We will be starting our first day of cycling from Moshi town to Marangu village, navigating the uphill and downhill slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The first half of the ride will be easy, featuring a tarmac road, while the second half will present several steep ascents and descents as we approach Marangu village.
Along the way, you will cycle through banana and coffee plantations, which are cash crops for the Chagga people. Depending on the time, we may visit some waterfalls in Marangu village and explore the Chagga cultural site, including a coffee tour. Here, a local Chagga guide will provide a brief history of the area, discussing the people, their traditions, and customs. This cultural immersion will take place soon after our lunch break.

Today will be a short ride with very little challenge as you cycle up and down from Marangu village, located in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, down to Lake Challa. As you ride through Marangu village, you will pass by lush banana and coffee plantations, immersing yourself in the vibrant agricultural landscape.
Before heading to Lake Challa, we will put on the discussion to visit Marangu Gate if you are fit enough to get there and back on the way to Lake Challa. It's a crater lake lying right on the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Lake Chala gets entirely water from underground springs from Mt. Kilimanjaro; it's surrounded by diverse plants and wildlife.
DAY 3; LAKE CHALLA TO RONGAI VILLAGES

Today, you will be riding towards the east-north side of Mount Kilimanjaro to Rongai village, located near the Kenyan border. Rongai village is where the Rongai route to Mount Kilimanjaro begins. Your ride today will be challenging, featuring real climbing, with both uphill and downhill sections until we reach the campsite.
Along the way, you will have the opportunity to experience local markets, where you can buy and sell seasonal fruits, particularly bananas. We will also stop at various points to learn about the local culture and traditions, exploring how the community has adapted before and after modernization, all while enjoying views of the West Kilimanjaro plains behind us.
Cycling will be through several small towns as you head uphill on the foothills of the mountain towards the Rongai forest. We will end at the Snowcap Mountain Cottages campsite. If no clouds cover the mountain, you can enjoy amazing views of Kilimanjaro’s two peaks, which are Kibo and Mawenzi. Kibo Peak is the king of Mount Kilimanjaro, and Mawenzi is the queen of Mount Kilimanjaro.
DAY 4; RONGAI VILLAGES TO WEST KILI FARM

This area is primarily inhabited by the Maasai people, but there are also significant populations of other tribes such as the Chagga, Meru, and Pare.
