Lake Chala is a stunning crater lake located right on the border between Kenya and Tanzania. It is fed entirely by underground springs from Mount Kilimanjaro and is surrounded by diverse plant life and wildlife. The campsite for the night is situated on the edge of this caldera lake, offering a breathtaking view against a dramatic volcanic backdrop, making it an ideal location for camping in this area.

The cycling route will take you through several small towns as you ascend the foothills of the mountain towards Rongai Forest. We will conclude our day at the Snowcap Mountain Cottages campsite. If there is no cloud cover, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro's two peaks: Kibo, known as the "King" of Mount Kilimanjaro, and Mawenzi, referred to as the "Queen."

As you cycle, you will traverse landscapes primarily inhabited by the Maasai people, known for their rich cultural heritage and semi-nomadic lifestyle.

The cycling tour will conclude at Simba Farm, which is perched atop the West Kilimanjaro plains. Along the route, you will have the opportunity to experience local Maasai culture, interacting with community members and learning about their traditions and way of life. The Maasai are renowned for their unique customs, which include herding cattle and living in harmony with the wildlife that surrounds them. This journey not only offers a chance to witness stunning landscapes but also provides insight into the Maasai's enduring connection to the land and wildlife they coexist with.

Enduimet borders Amboseli National Park and serves as an important migratory route for wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and Cape buffalo.

This area is primarily inhabited by the Maasai people, but it also hosts significant populations of other tribes such as the Chagga, Meru, and Pare. Today’s ride will take us from the western side to the southern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. It promises to be a good day, as your ride will be relatively easy, allowing you to cycle through lush coffee and banana plantations as you descend into the more fertile areas of southern Kilimanjaro. This contrasts with the arid open plains and acacia woodlands, which support a remarkable variety of wildlife and offer spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Moshi is home to the Chagga people, while the West Kilimanjaro plains are inhabited by the nomadic Maasai, who coexist with the surrounding wildlife, giving this area the nickname "Maasai Lands." As we continue our ride down to Moshi Town, we will pass through several villages, where we may have the chance to visit local markets if time allows. Here, you might also encounter mbege, a traditional Chagga beer that is well-known throughout Tanzania.

Mbege is famous for its significance in Chagga beliefs and traditions, and we will have an opportunity to share our experiences in a local bar with the Chagga people.
