DAY 1: MOSHI TOWN TO MARANGU VILLAGE

Your first day of cycling will begin in Moshi town and take you to the Marangu villages, following the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The journey starts with an easy ride on a tarmac road before transitioning into a more challenging second half, featuring several steep ascents and descents as you approach Marangu.
Along the route, you will pass through lush banana and coffee plantations, essential cash crops for the Chagga people. Upon arrival at the Marangu Hotel campsite, and depending on the time, you may visit some local waterfalls and the Chagga cultural site. A coffee tour will also be included, where a local Chagga guide will share fascinating insights about the area's history, the Chagga people, their traditions, and customs. This activity will follow a lunch break. The day concludes with relaxation at the Marangu Hotel campsite as you prepare for the next leg of your adventure.

Today’s ride will take you towards the northeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro, heading to Rongai village near the Kenyan border. Rongai is known as the starting point of the Rongai route to Mount Kilimanjaro. The journey will be challenging, with steep climbs followed by rolling uphill and downhill sections leading to the campsite.
Along the way, you'll pass through vibrant local markets where bananas and seasonal fruits are commonly sold. There will also be opportunities to stop and learn about the local culture, traditions, and how life has evolved before and after modernization, all set against the backdrop of the West Kilimanjaro plains.
The route passes through several small towns as you ascend the foothills of the mountain, heading towards Rongai Forest. The day ends at the Snowcap Mountain Cottages campsite. If the skies are clear, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s two peaks: Kibo, the "King" of Mount Kilimanjaro, and Mawenzi, its "Queen."

This region borders Amboseli National Park and serves as a vital migratory corridor for wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and Cape buffalo.
The area is predominantly inhabited by the Maasai people, though it is also home to other tribes such as the Chagga, Meru, and Pare. Our ride will conclude at the Maasai village of Olpopongi, where we’ll spend the night at their campsite. Here, we’ll immerse ourselves in Maasai culture and traditions while enjoying wildlife viewing before relaxing in preparation for the next day’s adventure.
DAY 5; OLIPOPONGI TO CHEMKA/HOTSPRING

Today's ride takes us from the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro to its southern slopes. This will be a rewarding and relatively easy journey, transitioning from the arid open plains and acacia woodlands to the lush, fertile areas of southern Kilimanjaro. Along the way, you'll cycle through scenic coffee and banana plantations, enjoying breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
As we ride, we’ll make our way to the Kikuletwa Hot Springs, also known as Chemka, meaning "to boil." This natural oasis offers an ideal spot for swimming—so don’t forget your swimming gear! After a refreshing dip, you can look forward to a relaxing hot shower and a celebratory drink, reflecting on the achievement of completing your cycling journey. Throughout the day, you’ll pass numerous villages and plantations on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Bananas, a staple food crop, and coffee, the region’s primary cash crop, dominate the landscape. The Chagga people, with their unique language and shared traditions, inhabit many of these villages.
If time permits, we’ll visit local markets or enjoy the famous Chagga traditional beer known as Mbege. This millet and banana-based brew is deeply rooted in Chagga beliefs and traditions, earning its reputation across Tanzania.
