DAY 1: MOSHI TOWN TO MARANGU VILLAGE

You will start your first day of cycling from Moshi town to Marangu villages, navigating both uphill and downhill on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The initial segment of the ride will be relatively easy, featuring a tarmac road, while the second half will present several steep ascents and descents leading to the Marangu villages.

During your journey, you will cycle through lush banana plantations and coffee fields, which are important cash crops for the Chagga people. Upon reaching the Marangu hotel campsite, time permitting, you may visit some picturesque waterfalls in the Marangu villages and explore the Chagga cultural site. A local Chagga guide will provide you with a brief history of the area, including insights into the people, their traditions, and customs. DAY 2; MARANGU VILLAGES TO LAKE CHALLA.

Today, you will embark on a short and enjoyable ride with minimal challenges as you cycle from Marangu village, located in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, down to Lake Challa. As you navigate through Marangu village, you will pass by lush banana and coffee plantations, which are integral to the local economy.

Before reaching Lake Challa, there will be an opportunity to visit Marangu Gate, provided you feel fit enough to make the round trip. Lake Challa is a stunning crater lake situated right on the border between Kenya and Tanzania. It receives its water entirely from underground springs originating from Mt. Kilimanjaro and is surrounded by a diverse array of plants and wildlife.
