3-Day Safari: Lake Manyara, Tarangire, and Arusha N.Parks

After breakfast, tourists will be picked up from their hotel in Moshi or Arusha and driven to Tarangire National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through small towns and rural areas, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Tanzania. Upon arrival at Tarangire National Park, we’ll proceed with a same-day game drive.

The park is known for its iconic baobab trees, large herds of elephants, and giraffes, along with a diverse range of other wildlife. Tarangire is an excellent choice for game viewing, as the Tarangire River, the only water source in the area, attracts a wide variety of animals during the dry season. Animals often gather along the riverbanks, making for easy and exciting game viewing. The game drive will continue until late afternoon, after which we will head toward the town of Mto wa Mbu for dinner and an overnight stay. Accommodations can range from camping to lodges, depending on your booking preferences.

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your lodge or campsite at 8:30 AM after breakfast and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. One of the park’s unique attractions is its famous tree-climbing lions, a rare phenomenon worth witnessing. These lions, the only ones of their kind in the world, take refuge in ancient mahogany and elegant acacia trees during the rainy season, making them a fascinating highlight of the northern park.

In addition to the lions, the park is home to the largest concentration of baboons in the world, providing an opportunity to observe large families of these primates in their natural habitat. The shores of Lake Manyara are often adorned with a breathtaking pink carpet of flamingos, adding to the park’s allure. After the game viewing, we will return to your lodge or campsite for dinner, preparing for the adventures of the next day.

Today, we will enjoy a 3-4 hour game drive, with wildlife viewing around the Momela Lakes at a relaxed and unhurried pace. While passing through the forest, many visitors pause to search for troupes of rare black-and-white colobus monkeys, a special highlight of this park.

In Arusha National Park, the shallow lakes are sometimes tinged pink with thousands of flamingos. These lakes also support a diverse array of resident and migratory waterfowl. Despite the park’s small size, it is home to a variety of animals, including giraffes, Cape buffalo, zebras, warthogs, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, flamingos, elephants, lions, and many other iconic African species.

Although leopards inhabit the park, they are rarely seen. The forested areas are also rich in birdlife, with many forest bird species more easily observed here than in other parts of Tanzania's tourist circuit.
