Your day begins with a drive from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate (1,860 m), the starting point of the famous Marangu Route. After registration. Tourists will then embark on a guided walk through the lush montane rainforest, where they’ll have the chance to admire towering eucalyptus trees, vibrant birdlife, and a variety of wildlife. Sightings may include colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and occasionally dik-diks, bush duikers, white-tailed mongooses, marsh mongooses, bush babies (galagos), and the white-necked raven. Note: At these lower elevations, the rainforest is often wet and muddy, true to its name. While shorts and T-shirts may be comfortable during the hike, it's important to keep rain gear and warmer clothing easily accessible at all times.
Our destination for this day hike is Mandara Hut, situated at an altitude of 2,730 meters. Upon arrival, tourists will sign in at the camp and have the option to take a short excursion to the nearby Maundi Crater. This optional walk offers breathtaking panoramic views of northeastern Tanzania and, weather permitting, a glimpse of Lake Challa, a beautiful crater lake located on the border between Tanzania and Kenya. After exploring the area, we will return to Mandara Hut for a relaxing lunch and short rest. We’ll then begin our descent back to Marangu Gate, concluding the hiking portion of the trip. Finally, tourists will be transferred back to Moshi town, marking the end of this memorable day adventure.

In the morning, after breakfast at the client’s lodge or hotel, tourists will depart from Moshi and drive to the Marangu Gate of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, home to the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. Upon arrival, we will complete the park registration process and make final preparations for the hike. Depending on how busy the gate is that day, this process typically takes 30 minutes to one hour.
Important note: According to Tanzanian National Park regulations, all visitors must exit the park before 6:00 PM. Staying beyond this time is considered the start of a new day and may result in an additional full-day park fee, so we will plan our hike carefully to ensure we are out before the cut-off time.

As we depart from Marangu Gate, we’ll soon enter the lush montane rainforest, a vibrant ecosystem filled with towering eucalyptus trees, colorful birdlife, and sightings of colobus monkeys and other wildlife.

While shorts and T-shirts may be comfortable during the hike, it’s essential to carry rain gear and warmer clothing to stay prepared for changing weather conditions.
