Lake Manyara is the seventh-largest lake in Tanzania by surface area, It is a shallow alkaline lake in Manyara Region nothern part of Tanzania. The northwest quadrant of the lake is included within Lake Manyara National Park and it is a part of the Lake Manyara Biosphere Reserve.
The Lake Manyara National Park is known for flocks of thousands flamingos that feed along the edge of the lake in the wet season. At times, there have been over an estimated 2 million individuals of various species of water birds.
Lake Manyara’s famous for tree-climbing lions are another reason to pay atention to visit this park. The only kind of their species in the world, they make the ancient mahogany and elegant acacias their home during the rainy season, and are a well-known but rather rare feature of the northern park. In addition to the lions, the national park is also home to the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world a fact that accounts for interesting game viewing of large families of the primates.
